A vintage rubber stamp alphabet and star printing set had a package header with Art Deco-inspired lettering describing the product.

Sold by a company called Elvin [circa late 50’s-early 1960s], these Japanese-made sets were one of many distributed by independent toy importers and made in various configurations including [at times] tiny animal stamps.

The type design on this particular item was the model for Retro Packaging JNL, available in both regular and oblique versions.

TT Commons is a universal sans serif with a minimal contrast of strokes, a closed aperture and geometric shapes of characters. The design of the typeface was developed for the widest possible range of tasks with which any quality corporate font is required to cope.

The history of TT Commons originates from the new TypeType logo, which appeared in late 2016 as part of the rebranding project. Ideas embedded in the logo formed the basis of two fully developed faces (regular and medium), which in early 2017 became the official corporate typeface of the TypeType Foundry.

Initially, we did not plan to release TT Commons for sale, but given the number of incoming requests, we changed our decision. At the same time, we have significantly improved the typeface: we increased the number of faces to 18, added small capitals for the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, expanded the character case to 771 glyphs, introduced 18 OpenType features, and included experimental hinting performed at our studio by our team.

Low contrast strokes and averaged drawing of letters makes TT Commons excellent for large arrays of text. On the other hand, individually developed design of each glyph makes it possible to use it successfully as a display font. The typeface intentionally does not have distinctive decorative details. On the contrary, it wins hearts with his laconism, simplicity and sharpness of forms, which set the seasoned corporate style for years to come.

The name TT Commons comes from the word ‘common’ (widely accepted, typical, frequent)—this typeface can be used for any everyday tasks related to typography. And small capitals, stylistic alternates, ligatures, arrows, different types of figures and other features (ordn, frac, case, c2sc, smcp, sinf, sups, numr, dnom, tnum, onum, lnum, pnum, liga, dlig, calt, salt, ss01) add significant functionality. If you are in doubt about which font to choose, pick TT Commons, it will definitely work.

The concept of Biscotti rised from a personal research into a system of styles that we commonly consider “vintage”.

One above all, the Victorian typography that has been rediscovered and widely re-studied during the 70s. Today, thanks to the technology innovation in digital typography fields, Biscotti is certainly an interesting subject which expresses an appassionate and nostalgic homage to a vintage font, seen from the perspective of a technical inspiration.

Biscotti is composed of two styles: the “default” and the alternative one. The first is of course more conservative and formal, while the alternative formally chooses a change of the diagonal lines into curves, so it creates a much more friendlier reading.

Biscotti consists of 4 sources that can be combined by layers in order to form different ways of reading.
This renewed effect increases exponentially the potential use range of this typography.

Biscotti has 517 characters and is composed for 220 Latin languages.

Back in 2011, Gelato Script was released, and soon became a best-seller. It has remained popular, appearing on everything from designer handbags to primetime TV shows; from food blogs to wedding invitations; from glossy magazines to (not so imaginatively!) ice cream shops.

All these years on, and it stuck me that there is much that could be improved on; there are certain glyphs that never quite felt right. So I decided to update Gelato Script, and this is the result, Gelato Luxe. What started as a simple update quickly spiralled into a total overhaul. There is not a single glyph in the new version that’s gone unchanged. The entire font has been tweaked and tinkered with and redrawn and respaced and rekerned to get it to this point. While I wanted to maintain the feel of Gelato Script, Gelato Luxe represents a massive leap in sophistication, with new alternates for smoother connections, and a totally new OpenType engine, with no fewer than seventeen stylistic sets.

Gelato Luxe is a truly versatile script font. You can effortlessly change the feel by playing with the many OpenType features. Make sure contextual alternates and standard ligatures are switched on, and it will work like a charm right out of the box. See the user guide in the gallery section for an explanation of all the features.

Cocogoose is a geometric sans serif typeface designed with straight, monolinear lines and circular or square shapes. Its strong, modernist look has been softened by rounded corners and slight visual corrections that make Cocogoose not only perfect for logos and headings, but also very readable as a text font, thanks to its generous x-height.

The standardCocogoose Pro (10 weights with three display variants, letterpress, inline and outlined, plus four overlapping decorative versions: Block Shadow, Block Innerline, Block Border, Block Gradient) has been complemented with 3 new widths: condensed, compressed and narrow, each in multiple weights with italics, small capitals, alternates, old style numerals, full cyrillic and greek character sets, and sporting the beloved letterpress version.

Inspired by a desire to rough up a perfectly clean sans serif. Furrow is perfect for getting attention, whether you’re using it for headlines or supplementary styling.

500+ characters, and 4 stylistic alternates for each letter and number! If you’re using an Adobe product (like Photoshop of Illustrator) make sure that Contextual Alternates is checked off in the Opentype/Charater panel (see this reference image: https://www.tylerfinck.com/calt.png ). Even if it looks toggled ON by default, toggle it off and back on, trust me.

By using Furrow with contextual alternates your words will cycle through all four alphabets. Say you type “people” - the second “e” will be different from the first. This is also super useful for double letters (“TT” LL” “ee” etc.) and words with lots of repetition (MISSISSIPPI).
